John Elbert Holt

John Elbert Holt passed away at his home in Skullbone, Tennessee on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the age 86. John is survived by his loving wife Monda of 57 years. They married in Dresden, TN on  January 28, 1961 John is predeceased by his parents, Eulus S. and Effie Stafford Holt.

A native of Weakley Co., John graduated from Greenfield High School in 1949. A short time after graduation, John was drafted to the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War for two years. He then returned home and worked in a couple different places including Kellwood and UTM as a teacher where he decided he needed to retire. John and Monda decided to open their own business known as Skullbone Printing Service in 1980 located in Skullbone and then later moved downtown Bradford. They ran a successful business for 21 years until they decided to retire. In his spare time, John enjoyed: traveling the world with his wife, going to flea markets, and playing with his collectibles.

A funeral service in memory of John will be held Monday, July 9, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Hunt Funeral Home Chapel in Bradford, Tennessee. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Skullbone, Tennessee. Brother Kevin Thomason, and Brother Ernest Pounds will be officiating.  The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Hunt Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Gary Laster, Tim Clark, Darrell Bell, Tyler Laster, Jeff McCarter, and Chris Nelson.
