Funeral services for Albert Woodrow (Mutt) Sanders, age 92, will be held on Thursday September 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Hunt Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kelvin Moore officiating. Burial will followed in the Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood, Tennessee. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr Sanders was the son of the late Walter and Florence Sanders who lived their entire lives in the West Tennessee area.
Mr. Sanders was a 1943 graduate of Bradford High School and farmed with is father for many years after graduation. In the mid 1950s he moved his family to the Chicago, IL area where he had accepted employment with the Fisher Body Division of General Motors. He quickly rose to a management position where he had production line responsibility.
Mr Sanders had the wisdom to return to Idlewild in the mid 1960s when his oldest child was to start high school. He did not want his children to grow up in the environment in Chicago, when West Tennessee was such an attractive option. Returning to Idlewild he farmed, his wife homestead and gradually added other land. He was well known for raising quality livestock, particularly large number of hogs.
Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife of almost 69 years Marivonne Dye Sanders of Bradford, Tennessee, his son Larry (Bonnie) Sanders of Columbus, Georgia, his daughter, Sherry (Johnny) Cooper of Greenfield, Tennessee, sister Lena Pearl Argo of Big Sandy, Tennessee, four grandchildren, Joey (Tiffini) Reynolds of Dresden, Tennessee, Daniel (Summer) Cooper of Greenfield, Tennessee, Lindsay Sanders of Laguna Niguel CA. and Clayton Sanders of Boston, MA.. Two great grandchildren, Kelsie Hendrix of Los Angeles CA. and Joelie Reynolds of Dresden, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Florence Sanders, and sister Maurine, McPherson.
